In The Mood Yet?
For some strange reason I am having a difficult time getting into the Christmas spirit. Our lives are fine, my wife and I are getting along and I even like my kids this week...but I just can't find myself in the mood for Christmas. Perhaps it's the thought of going to the mall and stores, the rummaging through racks and piles, looking for the perfect gift, or at least the gifts my wife has listed for me...I'm just not in the mood. Julie announced last night that tonight is the night for the Christmas trees to go up, notice that I said trees...got to have one for the living room and one for the den, and then we'll probably have to have them for the girls rooms...baby trees, but trees none the less! Am I sounding like Scrooge yet? I'll get over it and eventually into the Christmas spirit...about January!

I've tried to get Julie to put up a Palm Tree and decorate that, but she won't! We live in Florida for pitty's sake!

Now I don't feel so lonesome about my lack of "Christmas Spirit!" Maybe this warm weather we are having has something to do with it. Perhaps an arctic blast of cold and some snow on the ground might get me in the mood to drum up some gumption to go on a big shopping spree! Can you believe it was almost 70 here today! That's too blamed hot to go Christmas shopping!

Funny, Neil. I've learned something during this Christmas season. Its the age old question:

"If a Christmas Tree falls in the living room and no one is around to hear it, will it make a sound?"

I'm down with the grinch so far this year. - trav

Ruthrap,

Warm weather has nothing to do with the Christmas spirit in Florida...Have you ever seen Santa in shorts? For snow we go to Channelside in Tampa where they put it out for 10 minutes once every hour! But I can see your point in the area that you live!

Dude, I can totally relate. I just am not there. Libby put up the Christmas tree pretty much by herself. The kids did not even help much. I started hanging some outside lights yesterday, but honestly, I couldn't care less about it right now. We decorated the church this week too, and I'm really thinking, "Is all this necessary?" I figure most people wouldn't even come help decorate even though I asked, and if the decorating didn't get done, no one would say a thing, so why bother? Right? I mean, I've got the whole Grinch thing going on in a major way.
I'm really trying... but it just is not happening for me right now. I can't even get in the mood to watch Christmas Vacation, and that is the highlight of every Christmas for me.
I think I'm in trouble this year!
