Isaac Is Coming
I know that I've been posting a bunch of junk lately, I get afraid those who read will think I'm just a religious nut, and don't want to be preachy all the time. I am addicted to American Idol, even though I don't see it every week, I always find out the results...even from afar. But today I've got something jumping in my spirit and wanted to share. Several weeks ago I was preaching in Illinois and the phrase "Isaac Is Coming" got into my spirit. For some reason I thought I had read those words but could not find where I read them. Then the Lord began to speak to me about this phrase, I began to search the scripture concerning God's promise to Abraham to give him a son, of Abraham's impatience and Sarah's willingness to substitute herself with a handmaid and the arrival of Ishmael. It is a reoccuring word in my spirit that Isaac-the Promise-is coming. Ishmael was the product of the flesh, a substitute that would satisfy the impatience of two people that had been given a promise...it was Abraham and Sarah settling for less than what God promised them. Ishmael looked like the promise, acted like the promise, could be invested in and obtain the inheritance of the father...but he wasn't the promise. He was the production of the flesh that was paraded in the eyes of those that had heard the prophetic word...man's attempt to fulfill what only God can create. Today I went to the mail box and took out the latest issue of Ministries Today, as I'm scanning the pages I come to a article by R.T. Kendall entitled, "Isaac Is Coming!" I can't tell you what happened in my spirit, it was a confirmation that I am hearing the Lord. Don't understand all the implications, I just know there is an Isaac coming to the body of Christ, this promise has all the blessings and benefits of the covenant and will produce in our lives those things God has always desired to be a part of who and what we are...Don't Laugh...Isaac Is Coming!

I saw that and meant to call you Neil. I agree with you completely that Isaac is coming, and I also agree that many people will be deceived and accept Ishmael rather than wait for the timing of God. I think the key is not just waiting, but rather occupying. Not just taking up space and sitting idle, but working in and living in what we have now, but all the while looking for what God is getting ready to do.

I'm reducing my addiction, limiting my idol intake and not settling for Ishmael...actually, I felt guilty about going overboard on the idol thing. Some guy on Acts last week called me a pop hipster...hit and run you know!

Occupying is the absolute key. I've emailed RT Kendall concerning what I've been hearing and hope he responds!

Ok let me ask you guys something- do you think that Isaac (and I know Isaac represents something different to all of us) will come at an "appointed time" (just like the real Isaac)- or do you think we can hasten his coming?

In other words-does prayer hasten his (Isaac's) coming, or is it just a Sovereign move of God at an appointed time?

That's a good question! Perhaps Isaac would have come sooner for Sarah if she had had faith he was really coming. Maybe something in her had to change (both physically as well as spritually) in order to prepare the way for Isaac. Maybe God is changing something in us to prepare the way for our Isaacs.

Great word, Neil. I love R.T. Kendall, too. He actually preaches from time to time in Detroit at Revival Tabernacle A/G. He is a mentor to the pastor there in the last few years since he retired Westminster Chapel in London. I think he lives in Florida now.

Both! I think that there are appointed or set times for things and there are things that are adaptable as we move towards the Lord. Galatians said that Christ came in the fullness of time, Isaac came at the appointed times as the angels said...Yet the Apostle Peter said that we looking for hasting the coming of the day of God. A due date is always an approximate date, the baby may come earlier or later...only God knows the exact time. When we rush things we may hinder the development, when we delay things progress is stretched...Good thing God is never late. I think that we can hasten the arrival of somethings in our lives by our total surrender and obedience. Jesus was brought into His miracle moment when His mother asked Him to turn the water into wine...perhaps our faith creates an atmosphere that causes God to minister and deliver what we've been waiting for...just don't settle for Ishmael!

Dear brothers and sisters. Be very careful of RT Kendall. He used to preach at Westminster Chapel in the UK and during his time there he traumatized many sincere christians who love Jesus. He used them like pawns and experimented with them trying all types of techniques to bring so called "revival". Sincere followers of Jesus received private condemnations from him and know he is a hypocrite who shows a smiley kind face in public but inwardly he does not care about people. He only cares about his ministry. Someone's teaching must be gauged by the fruit of the recipients. You will not find anyone (apart from idolizers) in Westminster chapel who has anything good to say about RT Kendall.
