My Blood Pressure
I know that I shouldn't post twice in one day and probably should post something super spiritual...on a message board today I was called a hipster...I think I was being slammed and resisted slamming back....But, I have been struggling with high blood pressure for several years. At first I thought it was just stress, and it probably is connected, it's probably inheritated some, my father had it, and other relatives have it...so it's probably in my genes...I've never been to the doctor for it but runs somewhere usually between 157/95 to as high as 168/110, more often its around 160's/103/104, somewhere in there. This evening I checked it and it was 147/90, which is borderline, but much lower than it has been in longer than I can tell. I'm on an aspirin regimen, take 1000mgs of garlic pills daily, have removed salt from my diet other than what it is cooked with, am cutting back on my caffine intake and am drinking more water than ever in my life. I've been claiming a healing and am believing God for a total restoration of my health...so for me this is a really big deal...more than you'll ever know, more than I can ever thank God for...but I am rejoicing and really excited...so I thought I'd share the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living...or at least in Blogland!

I have the exact opposite problem. I have to watch my blood pressure when it gets down too low. The last couple times I had a hospital stay it would bottom out at some part and then they had to monitor like every hour or so. Argh!

No, I'm not going to suggest bing cherries! However, chamomile tea can help! Iced, with a little sweetener....mmmm, mmmm Aunt Bee!
On a serious note, Neil, I will be praying for you!

I don't know if you have a cholesteral problem, sometimes it is interrelated to high blood pressure, but a friend of ours is taking cinnamon bark pills and says that his cholesteral is way down and they are fairly inexpensive, cheaper than lipitor! check out a health store, that's where i found them for Jose.

I've just finished reading a book by Dr. Don Colbert and he suggest a boat load of things like cyenne pepper pills, magnesium, and some other stuff...my question is can I take all these things...plus aspirin and garlic, which are among the things he suggest. Haven't heard cinnamon bark, have to check that one out. I'm all about doing it the natural med way, whatever I can do myself and with the Lord's help works for me! Thanks for all the comments. Tell Jose hello and how come I didn't end up with one of the best pizza's in the world when I was there? Tell pastor that the next time I'm there we have to get pizza from you!

Chamomile tea...what's it taste like?
And I'm to eat the bing cherries to help me sleep is that correct? I'm just a mess...huh!

I'm like Sarah in that when I have trouble, it is because the numbers come together, which is dangerous. I have been hospitalized twice with "mini strokes" because my BP went to like 110/100. I have been off all meds for for about 10 years now. I do tend to run borderline 95% of the time, like 139/80. I think that is just normal for me, because I have been like that since I was a teen.

The number one thing the doctors tell me about my problem... "You need to reduce your stress."
Duh!
And would someone tell me how to pastor and not have stress?

I would love to be at 139/80, I've been in the 160's/100's since before we left Champaign, which will be four years in November. Probably been on the high side for at least 6-8 years. It does worry me at times, can tell when it's going up...and yes, how does one reduce stress. Though I must admit that on our little vacation I was more laid back than usual...didn't rant and rave about the lines or waiting while the girls were shopping or get too upset about the people in the pool that felt the sudden need to converge on the area we were in...Julie said I did good..so I must have. I do tend to internalize until I can't stand it and then start letting out big chunks of frustration. HBP has become a normal part of my existence, not acceptable, but normal, just don't like it when my left arm and chest hurt...worries me a bit...but that hasn't happened in several months...I'm thankful for God's healing a protection.

Sorry so long, I'm wordy today, begin revival here in Florida in the morning...pray for me!

Hey, Neil, thanks for the concern for my BP. I have been making a point to eat better these past few days. More veggies and less fatty, salty food. I guess I don't take in too much caffine these days, but until recently I drank coffee like it was water.

I do love my iced tea, though. Perhaps I need to make the decaf switch.

I got some exercise today, too, did lots of yardwork.

Chamomile tea tastes a lot like regular tea.... but that's jsut my opinion I have it hot with milk and sugar in it rofl. As far as natural meds... I would either look up what herbs you can and can not take together, or ask a doctor about it. Some of them you do not want to mix...

praying for you.

I just found out that high blood pressure sometimes results in not having enough potassium. Might want to try it, I am
