Simple Stuff
I was reading my friend Sarah's blog as she wrote of the provision of the Lord, simple stuff like God providing her the ability to watch Monk...a favorite program...and I got to thinking about how much God does to remind us that He really does love and care about us.
When I was a teen-ager my father had two surgeries within a year which caused him to be off work for quite awhile. What I didn't know was anything about the financial aspect of our home, or that his workmans comp had an issue and things we tight...my parents never shared that type of information with my sister and I. One Sunday we went to church as usual and as we began to leave the back of my Dad's pick up was filled with groceries. To this day I don't know where they came from, whose idea it was and why they did...what I do know is that evidently we needed them and in one of the bags was a plastic baggy filled with tea bags...I thought it was just for me, I love Sweet Tea and Hot Tea...God cares about the simple stuff!
If it pertains to one of His children...it's important...not simple...He loves us and wants so much to let us know how much He cares...Thanks Sarah for sharing...I'm glad you get to see Monk...It's about me you know!

Tea bags are important, too!!! Speaking of, I need to add them to my grocery list.

It is amazing that the simplest things - He cares about. He cares for the sparrow...how much more for us?

And, with Monk - I have NO IDEA how to record them off of our DVR onto a tape/dvd - so I guess I'm going to have to have a Monk marathon with Sarah & of course, I know I'll be hooked!

I too love tea, but not sweet tea. No sugar, a squirt of lemon juice, that's all I need! On ice, of course. Anyway, that reminds me of something that happened quite a few years ago. My wife's youngest brother (17 years younger!) was maybe 8 or 9, and one day his kite got stuck in the tree in the backyard. My wife and I were there at their house, and she suggested that he pray and ask Jesus to take the kite out of the tree. We all went out somewhere, he prayed, and my wife was afraid that God wouldn't answer his prayer, and Satan would take advantage of the situation and shipwreck his faith. When we came back, you guessed it, the kite was lying on the ground next to the tree! Just so you know, the tree was 50 to 60 feet tall, and the kite was way up there, too far to climb up on a ladder.

This is in total line of my devotional today.

Psalm 103:13 (New American Standard Bible) 13Just as a father has compassion on his children, So the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him.

Isaiah 49:15 (New International Version) 15 "Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!

I have a meeting I am going to on Saturday night. I hadn't looked at the theme until today. It is "FINDING GOD IN SIMPLE THINGS". How cool!

Sweet Tea is one of the simple things in life! It must be sweetened when it's hot so the huge amount of sugar you put in can dissolve, add a little lemon and you're a pumped up happy camper!

Simple things, a pat on the back, a simple comment, a hug or act of random kindness...taping a favorite program...none of these things take much money, just effort and a willingness to share yourself with others...what an opportunity!
